Learn to skate program
2025 fall season begin october 19th. Winter season begin December 7th 2026 ( to be confirmed)
( these 3 programs are under the name Learn to skate in the club calendar)
These sessions are offered by a dedicated coach with parent volunteers from the club and the assistance of club skaters.Young skaters are taught basic skating skills that they can apply to hockey, figure skating and naturally speed skating.
We ask that all participants have the following equipment
- A helmet (hockey, skateboarding, or speed skating)
- Knee pads (volleyball or hockey pads)
- Gloves or mitts
- Cut proof neck guard
- Skates (hockey, figure skates or contact us for speed skates)
Free trial ( 1st session)
Let your Child try our Learn to Skate Program for FREE!! We understand that some parents might not be certain that their child is ready to start learning to skate. This is why we love to invite parents and their children to try their first Learn to skate session for free. Simply bring your skate gear (skates & helmets) for both you and your child. You are also required to let us know in advance that you’ll be showing up for a free trail session. All participants must complete the waiver.
We hope to see you soon ! Our fun learn to skate program has been offered in Dieppe, Moncton and Riverview for over 40 years!
Some children respond better when their parents are on the ice…some when their parents are not there! We ask that parents be out on the ice with their child if they can’t stand up by themselves “Just to make it as much fun as possible”. We leave it up to each family to determine what is best for their skater.
The crawlers
The Crawlers: This introductory Learn to skate program for tots and young children is designed for young children not yet ready to skate alone. They normally can’t get up on their own. Parents help their child on the ice (helmets and skates required for both he parent and child) in introduction to basic skating skills by participating in fun activities that include toys and games. Parents must have moderate skating ability and participate with their child for the complete class duration. Only one parent or guardian per child.
The Stompers
The Stompers: This entry level Learn to Skate program is for beginner children skaters who are capable of going on the ice on their own without accompaniment of a parent. Skaters with no previous skating experience are welcome in this program if they can get up on their skates by themselves. This beginner program provides young children with introduction to basic skating skills through toys and games. Parents are always invited to contribute yet do need to participate on the ice..
The gliders
The Gliders: This Learn to Skate program is intended for beginners skater of all ages who can stand and step on the ice on their own and who have started to glide. The child will continue their on ice learning which includes forward & backward skating, stopping, turning, spinning, jumping and cross over turning. Parents will be given a list of the skills required for each pin level..
