Important Summer Camp Registration Dates :

  • December 12 2019:  Registration Opening for the summer camp
  • March 31 2020: Last day for early bird special (high performance group $500 and Learn to Speed Skate 249$)
  • April 1st: Regular price (580$ for HP and 279$ for LTSS) for summer Camp takes effect on new registrations.
  • There are 81 HP spots currently available and  34 LTSS spots currently available
  • May 15 2020: Balance Deposit Payment Deadline if the 2 payments option has been chosen (HP & LTSS),

Q: What are the Learn to Speed Skate (LTSS) summer camp dates?

A: The Learn to Speed Skate (LTSS) summer camp will be from Monday, July 20 to Thursday July 23 (4 x Half days only).

Q: What are the summer 2020 short track High Performance (HP) speed skating camp dates?

A: The speed skating summer camp will be from July 20 to the 24, 2020 (5 days).

Q: How many High Performance (HP) and Learn to Speed Skate (LTSS) summer camp spots will be available in 2020?

A: There will be 90 HP and 40 LTSS spots in 2020. A waiting list will be created should all spots become full.

Q: Will the camp be offered in English and in French?

A: Yes. The Codiac summer camp will include bilingual coaches to accommodate skaters in both official languages.

Q: Where is the camp happening?

A: The ice time for this short track speed skating summer camp will be at the AJL Arena in Dieppe, NB. (Olympic Ice Surface)

Q: What is the minimum age for this summer speed skating camp participation?

A: High-Performance program: The suggested minimum age is 11 years old at the time of the 2020 camp. We suggest a time of 60 seconds or less for the 400m. If your child is less than 11 years old but meets these time requirements and you believe he can do 2 training on ice per day, you can register him in High Performance Camp.

For the Learn to Speed Skate program we suggest an minimum age of 6 at the time of the 2020 camp.. All participants must be able to skate with long blades and be an active 2019-2020 SSC speed skating club members (or) an active member of an ISU recognized speed skating club.

Q: Is there an early bird registration date and fee for the High Performance program?

A: Yes, The current summer camp fee for full payment at registration is $500 and ends March 31, 2020 ($580 after March 31, 2019).

  • No refunds after five (5) business days from registration date.

Q: When is the HP $250 balance due for the High Performance program?


A: May 31 – HP Program Balance Owing Deadline:
The balance owing of $250, for those who register before March 31 with the 2 payments option, the second payment of 250$ must be paid in full before May 15 2020. You will lose your deposit and reserved summer camp spot should the balance owing not be paid in full prior to May 15th 2020. Only full payments option of $580 will be accepted for registration in the HP program after March 31, 2020

Q: What is your cancellation / refund policy?

A: Payments are non-refundable five (5) business days after registration. However, those who pay the full camp amount upon registration can qualify for a partial refund (i.e. full amount less the regular $250 deposit amount for HP or $100 for LTSS) upon reception of a writing request via email sent to the camp administrator.  There are No deposit refunds after five (5) business days of completing your online registration and your PayPal® payment has been received.  Any request cancellation/refund request will be considered on an individual basis by the Codiac Summer Camp director. Cancellations due to medical or accidental reasons prior to May 31 2020 must be accompanied by a doctor’s note stating the reason why the skater cannot attend the camp at the time of request.

Q: What is your refund policy for Medical or Accidental reasons?

A: No partial or full refunds due to medical or accidental related reasons will be authorized after May 31 2020 unless there is a registration waiting list and that an alternate skater registers to replace the vacant spot.  Any request for cancelation/refund received prior to May 31 2020 , will be considered on an individual basis by the Codiac Summer Camp director. Cancellations due to medical reasons prior to May 31, 2020 must be accompanied by a doctor’s note stating the medical reason why the skater cannot attend the camp at the time of request at which point a partial refund (i.e. full amount paid less the regular $250 for HP or $100 for LTSS deposit amount) will be issued. When applicable, the deposits component of a full registration payment (i.e. $250 of HP or $100 of LTSS component of your full payment) is non-refundable five (5) business days after registration. Some with additional health/medical insurance coverage might qualify for a partial or full summer camp refund due to medical/accidental reasons.

Q: When and where do we Check-In for the camp?

A: Participants are encouraged to check-in Sunday, July 19, 2020 (6:30PM-8:00 PM) at the AJL Arena in Dieppe, NB. If Sunday is not possible, you will be allowed to check-in on Monday, July 20, 2020 (7:30AM – 9:00AM) also at the arena.  Check the 2020 camp schedule to avoid missing out on Monday morning (July 20) ice or dryland activities.

Q: What is the recommended attire for dryland activities?

A: For dryland activities, you are required to wear (or have): t-shirts, shorts, sneakers, sun hat, sunscreen and a water bottles.

Q: When will the camp schedule be availab le?

A: The official camp schedule should be available before June 30, 2020.

Q: Will there be other activities outside the camp schedule?

A: This camp is considered to be a High-Performance camp only. (i.e. Ice time and dryland only) with a focus on speed skating.

Q: Will there be billeting available for those requiring lodging? (Updated)

A: We are uncertain at this time.  The camp organizers are working very hard to find local families willing to host skaters for that week.  We will do our best to help match skaters with a host family yet there are no guarantees that a match will be successful. Q: Will skaters be divided in groups based on age and/or ability?

A: Both times and age will be taken into account. Safety first. There will be three (3) high performance groups (up to 30 skaters per group) and one (1) Learn to Speed Skate group (Up to 40 skaters). At the discretion of the coaches, group adjustment may happen during the Camp to better accommodate skaters. There will be a list of skater groups posted online.

Q: Can parents drop their skater(s) off at the arena and pick them up at the end of the daily sessions?

A: If a skater is under 12 years old and/or a skater cannot tie/untie their skates, or needs other assistance during the camp, parents/guardians or their designate(s) are required to remain at the camp to assist their skater(s). Coaches or camp personnel will not supervise unattended skaters. Also keep in mind that this is a high-performance camp and that there will be periods of the day for recuperation when there are no structured activities for the skaters.

Q: What safety equipment is required?

A: Required safety equipment is as per SSC RED BOOK. Identical to competition meets. No exceptions. Skaters with damaged or missing safety equipment will not be allowed on the ice.

Q: Will there be food available at the camp? (Updated)

A: No, Skaters/parents are responsible for their own food and drinks during the camp.

  • The Arena canteen is NOT expected to be open for business.
  • There are no restaurants in proximity to the AJL arena.
  • There are a few vending machines at the arena offering cold drinks (i.e. water, sports drinks, etc…) yet these might not always be functional.

Q: Is there a convenience store near AJL Arena?

A: Yes. There is a small convenience store at about 6 minutes walk from the arena on Amirault Street called “Amirault Variety” at 970 Amirault St, Dieppe, NB E1A 1C9.  – When walking out from the arena, head right walking towards the church on Melanson road then right again on Amirault Street. The convenience store will be on the right.

Safety: Amirault Street is a main automobile artery and can see high traffic at certain times of the day. Skaters must obey all pedestrian laws, follow pathways and use crosswalks to stay safe at all times.
